Svetlana started practicing Iyengar Yoga in Moscow in 2003. In 2012 and 2013, she trained as a teacher under Monica Haar. Since 2013, Svetlana has been certified at Introductory Level II, and in the fall of 2017, she completed the next level in Iyengar Yoga, Junior I. Svetlana runs the Yogena studio in Täby and teaches classes at the Iyengar Yoga Studio in Södermalm. She has taught her own classes at other schools and has run a yoga studio on Koh Lanta in Thailand.
Iyengar Yoga is a physical, powerful form of yoga with exercises and yoga poses (asanas) that are performed very carefully. The focus in Iyengar Yoga is on performing the poses correctly based on the body's anatomy and physical conditions. As an Iyengar Yoga teacher, I have undergone thorough training. I have learned to give instructions that suit the student's needs and how to observe the performance of the yoga poses and correct them when necessary.
In Iyengar Yoga, there is no competition, no rivalry, and no prestige. You decide for yourself how much your body can handle and what you can do. Anyone can do Iyengar Yoga, regardless of age, yoga experience, or physical condition.
During a lesson, I work based on the individual's own conditions. Anatomical alignment and, above all, posture are important. Each position is carefully reviewed and performed relatively slowly. You remain in the position and repeat certain movements for the best effect. I use simple aids such as blocks, belts, and blankets to perform the positions as correctly as possible. That is, stretching fully to create as much space inside the body as possible, with maximum consideration for the body's anatomy. Through a refined system of hundreds of poses, you achieve great awareness of your body's posture and straight lines. You train strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance, as well as concentration and meditation.
Massages will also be offered.
“This yoga retreat is wonderful. I had never tried Iyengar yoga before, but I quickly got the hang of it. Svetlana guides everyone, experienced and inexperienced yogis alike, in a great way. The location is also fantastic, not least the sauna and the small beach. Wonderful in summer, autumn, and spring. Highly recommended!
About the massage: "Everyone's massage was fantastic. I've had some problems with my back and shoulders for several years, but she managed to fix me up in an hour. I felt reborn after this massage!"
